The idea for this series came from a 1975 TV guide listing, for the show, The Wild Wild West, Rory's best friend read to him in 6th grade.

In this episode Jim West  (Robert Conrad) tries to unravel "a bizarre trio of clues".

The Three Ideas are just that, "a bizarre trio of clues" — or, cartoon characters juxtapoz to unexpected almost arbitrary objects and backgrounds.
